Treatments for Open Wounds



When we open wounds we are talking about external injuries and to mucous membranes or skin lesions produced by the breaking or opening of the tissues. Open wounds are usually the result of scratches, cuts, abrasions and punctures. These injuries are mostly accompanied by bleeding. There are several treatments that help minimize bleeding, infection and scarring intensive. Treatment includes the application of pressure, cleaning, disinfection, sewing and medication. - The application of pressure

If you receive a small wound such as paper cuts, the application of pressure can be eliminated as this type of bleeding wounds usually stops within minutes or even seconds. Large open wounds however, represent a greater threat because they can bleed profusely. Large open wounds that are bleeding require the application of pressure to stop bleeding. The best way to do this is to wrap the wound with a clean cloth. This could be a rag, towel or a shirt. The cloth should be wrapped so that it is taught.
